Nigerian Dwarf Dairy Goats:
The Nigerian Dwarf dairy goat is a small goat (does must be under twenty-two & 1/2 inches, and bucks must be under twenty-four inches) that originated in West Africa. We chose the Nigerian Dwarf for several reasons. The first reason is because of their size - they are easy to handle and require less pasture and hay than larger breeds. The second reason is because of their personality - they are friendly to humans and enjoy human company. The third reason is because of the milk they produce - most Nigerian Dwarf does can produce a quart of delicious, sweet milk at each milking, and their milk is high in protein and butter fat. Nigerian Dwarf goats come in a variety of coat colors and their eyes can range from blue to brown.

We feed our Nigerian Dwarf goats a second-cutting, mixed brome grass and alfalfa hay all year. In addition, our goats enjoy plenty of the nutritious browse and undergrowth goats love. Our does are also fed a grain ration that we mix with black oil sunflower seeds, diatomaceous earth, and Clovite - a vitamin and mineral mixture. And everyone gets plenty of specially-designed goat minerals and fresh water. We keep our goats up-to-date on their vaccinations, wormings, and hoof trims; and we have been rewarded with happy, healthy, friendly goats.
For many years, we regularly tested our herd for CAE/CL/TB/Q-Fever/Johannes / Brucellosis through WADDL. When we got to the point where we completely closed our herd to any new outside animals, we stopped testing, as the danger of any illness being brought into the herd was negated. We are a completely negative herd.
